NAVI MUMBAI: Panvel civic body has asked 16 hospitals to register under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya yojana for Covid-19 patients requiring oxygen beds and ventilators to avail the subsidy.
Deputy municipal commissioner, Sanjay Shinde said , "the saving is around 60-65%. The civic body issues notice last month. The process of registration is on, but a hospital also had to meet the requirements to qualify for registration under the scheme."
Kantlal Kadu, president of Panvel suraksha manch said, "the scheme can be availed by all.
I approached the CM, mailed him about the need for making the scheme available. "
The notice sent around one month ago though was yet to be effectively put in action. Private hospitals have an issue about reimbursement as the documentation with state health department for the scheme and availing the reimbursement is described as "tedious."
While the scheme requires photographs of patients and oxygen beds and those with ventilators, the reimbursement has a time lag of around two months, said sources.
Out of the 16 hospitals, the civic body has taken over two and makes a lumpsum payment besides maintenance charges. The other 14 are are also private hospitals that are for Covid treatment.
